Emphasis on Maintaining Quality over Increasing Number of Courses

On January 25, 2025, the 38th meeting of the Inspection Report Review Committee (IRRC) was held at the Shaheed Dr. Milton Hall of BSMMU, under the chairmanship of the Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam. The meeting was attended by the Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research & Development) Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhter, Dean of the Faculty of Surgery Professor Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Professor Dr. Shamim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, and the Secretary of the Inspection Report Review Committee, Professor Dr. Zafar Khaled, among others.

The meeting discussed the affiliation of various courses to different medical colleges, course evaluations, the consideration of national demand when launching new courses, and strengthening monitoring activities for the existing courses. The meeting placed the most emphasis on maintaining quality rather than increasing the number of courses. The teachers expressed the view that maintaining quality is key to producing skilled specialists.
