Journal Club Presentation at the Radiology Department of BSMMU

The Contribution of Journal Club to High-Quality Research and University Ranking is Undeniable: Prof. Dr. Shahinul Alam

On Sunday, January 5, 2025, a significant presentation session on the Journal Club was held at the Radiology and Imaging Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). In the inaugural speech, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of BSMMU, Professor Dr. Md. Shahinul Alam, stated that the Journal Club plays an essential role in knowledge acquisition, but its primary goal is to conduct in-depth, meticulous, and comprehensive analysis of the relevant topics. The contribution of the Journal Club to high-quality research and the progress in university rankings is undeniable. The Journal Club plays a vital role in acquiring scientific knowledge and enhancing research skills, including the discussion of research papers, improving research quality, learning about new research methodologies, theories, and results, developing scientific thinking and analytical abilities, and improving the ability to present, critique, and review research. It helps familiarize participants with new research, trends in various types of research, and teaches how to identify the strengths and weaknesses of research papers. Therefore, the Journal Club is an important platform for knowledge exchange, scientific discussion, and research. It will significantly contribute to the development of experts in popular fields through advanced research at BSMMU. For this reason, there is a need to improve and enhance the capacity of the Journal Club. Discussions and meetings of the Journal Club should be held every week. It must be remembered that the Journal Club is not a neglected issue, but rather a crucial and inevitable platform for international-level education and research.

Shahinul Alam, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research & Development) Professor Dr. Mohammad Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr. Nahreen Akhter, Registrar Professor Dr. Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Proctor Dr. Sheikh Farhad, Director (Planning & Development) Dr. Erfanul Haque Siddique, Chairman of the Radiology & Imaging Department Professor Dr. Habiba Khatun, Professor Dr. Mohammad Moinul Ahsan, Professor Dr. Nasim Sultana, Professor Dr. Bishwajit Bhoumik, Professor Dr. Mosha. Saida Shawkat Jenny, Professor Dr. Mahbuba Khatun, Additional Director (Super Hospital) Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Hasan, and the Honorable Vice Chancellor’s Private Secretary Dr. Mohammad Ruhul Kuddus Biplab, along with teachers and students of the Radiology and Imaging Department. During the event, a significant research paper on the Journal Club was presented by Dr. yasna Kibria, a resident of the Radiology and Imaging Department.
