BSMMU Holds Workshop on Enhancing Data Analysis and Manuscript Publication Skills for Health

A Capacity Development Workshop for Health Professionals on Data Analysis and Manuscript Publication

was held at BSMMU to promote the dynamic growth of the health sector and enhance the quality of

research. The workshop took place on Monday, 30th December 2024, in the extension room of Shaheed Dr.

Milan Hall. The two-day event was organized by the Department of Neonatology (Newborn), Bangladesh

Neonatal Forum, Bangladesh Perinatal Society, and ICDDR,B.
The chief guest at the closing ceremony of the workshop was Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader,

the honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) of BSMMU. The special guest was Professor

Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Md.

Abdul Mannan, Chairman of the Department of Neonatology. The workshop saw the participation of 25

faculty members and healthcare professionals from various institutions, including BSMMU, BIRDEM, Dhaka

Medical College, and Mugda Medical College.
In his speech, Chief Guest Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader stated that today’s workshop would

play a significant role in strengthening the country’s health sector and improving the quality of

research. The main objective of this workshop was to enhance the data analysis and research publication

skills of health professionals. Such initiatives would support the country in advancing a research-

based health sector. The participants of this workshop would be able to apply their knowledge for the

service of the country and the nation. This workshop is equally important for students aspiring to

build a career in the health sector, as research skills are an invaluable asset. Through this workshop,

students will gain practical experience, which will be beneficial for their future research and

advanced career opportunities. Above all, BSMMU must advance in education, healthcare, and research.

Research is a critical aspect when it comes to university rankings. Through collective efforts, BSMMU

must be established as a prestigious institution on the global stage.
Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman emphasized the importance of writing and publishing high-quality

research papers.
Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan highlighted the crucial role of research in improving the health sector

and stated that this workshop would assist professionals in acquiring those skills. By enhancing the

data analysis and manuscript publication abilities of health professionals, the path to providing

better healthcare services nationally will be further facilitated. This will not only benefit the

health sector but also play an important role in the overall welfare of the nation, as the information

gathered through research helps in the formulation of health policies and decision-making.
During the workshop, experts provided training on modern data analysis techniques and the process of

writing and publishing internationally recognized research papers.
