Workshop on Question Paper Preparation and Procurement Rules Organized by IQAC

BSMMU Positioned as a Leading Institution in Higher Medical Education, Advanced Healthcare and Quality Research, with Teachers as Pioneers

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, two workshops on "Question Paper Preparation and Moderation" and "Public Procurement Act 2006 and Rules 2008" were held at the Shaheed Dr. Milton Hall and the extension room of Shaheed Dr. Milan Hall at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The workshops were organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university. The honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) of the university, Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, inaugurated the workshops as the chief guest. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. Jesmin Banu, Director of IQAC, and the sessions were moderated by Dr. Tariq Reza Ali, Additional Director of IQAC.
In the inaugural ceremony, Professor Dr. Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development), emphasized that it is the teachers who are at the forefront in making BSMMU an unmatched institution in higher medical education, advanced healthcare, and quality research. He particularly stressed the important responsibility of the junior faculty members in this process. He stated that there should be no compromise on the quality of medical education. BSMMU must be developed as an unparalleled institution in all aspects. He also mentioned that all teachers, doctors, and relevant staff members of the university should have a proper understanding of the Public Procurement Act and Rules.
In her speech, Professor Dr. Jesmin Banu highlighted the importance of teachers being actively involved in question paper preparation, stressing that the more they engage in this task, the more it will foster creativity among them.
The workshop was attended by key faculty members, including the Dean of the Faculty of Pediatrics, Professor Dr. Md. Atiar Rahman, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Ahmed, the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, Professor Dr. Saif Ullah Munshi, Registrar Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Assistant Professor Dr. Abu Hena Helal Uddin Ahmed, and Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Gour Kumar Mitra.
In the technical session on "Question Paper Preparation and Moderation," papers were presented by Professor Tahmina Begum, Councilor of BCPS, and Professor Dr. Nurunnahar Khanam from BSMMU. In the technical session on the "Public Procurement Act and Rules," the main paper was presented by Mr. Abdul Wadud, the Honorable Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and Mr. Ashik Ahmed Shibly, Superintending Engineer (Procurement) of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
